Background
Geeta Kanwar is a 20-year-old young woman from Kansingh ki Seed, Rajasthan, living in a large family with six siblings. Her family is modest but close-knit:
-
Father: Farmer
-
Mother: Homemaker
-
Brothers: One works outside the village; another employed at a solar plant
-
Siblings: All pursuing education
Having completed her 12th standard, Geeta has always been determined to use her education meaningfully. Alongside academics, she has a passion for creativity, a natural interest in colors, designs, and artistic expression. Despite limited opportunities in her village, Geeta nurtured her dream of doing something unique, aiming to support her family and inspire other young women.
Skills and Experience: Wall Art & Creative Aspirations
Geeta’s Craftsmanship:
Geeta’s fascination with visual art began in childhood—drawing patterns on notebooks, decorating walls during festivals, and experimenting with colors.
When TAC opened its center in Kansingh ki Seed, Geeta finally found a platform to nurture her passion. Through structured training in Wall Art, she learned techniques blending traditional methods with modern styles.
Her wall art is characterized by:
-
Neatness and attention to detail
-
Creative and imaginative designs
-
Integration of traditional motifs with innovative patterns
The mentorship and collaborative learning at TAC gave her confidence and professional skills to turn her passion into a livelihood.
Inspiration
Geeta draws inspiration from:
-
Her family: Witnessing her brothers’ hard work motivates her to contribute to the family’s future.
-
Women artisans at TAC: Their confidence, income generation, and support for families encouraged her to dream bigger.
The cooperative environment at TAC, where women share experiences and learn from each other, strengthened Geeta’s courage and ambition.
Personal Story
Completing her 12th standard was a milestone, but Geeta sought more than academics—she wanted income, identity, and creative fulfillment.
Joining TAC’s Kansingh ki Seed center was initially intimidating. She questioned her talent, but encouragement from mentors and peers boosted her confidence. Each design she completed reinforced her belief in her abilities.
Today, Geeta continues her dedicated training, supported by her family. Her dream is to one day create her own small Wall Art studio, working for herself and teaching other young girls in her community.
Impact
Geeta’s journey with TAC has already brought:
-
Practical skills in Wall Art and design
-
Exposure to creative collaboration with other women
-
Confidence to present her work and ideas
-
Vision to see her art as a livelihood
Her family takes pride in her achievements, and the community views her as a role model. Geeta exemplifies how education, creativity, and opportunity can empower young women to build independence and self-reliance.
Personal Note
Dear WomenServe Team,
My name is Geeta, and I am one of the many young women whose life has been transformed by TAC. I belong to a large family with six siblings. While my brothers work hard—one away from home, another at a solar plant—I also wanted to contribute in my own way.
Before TAC came to Kansingh ki Seed, I often felt that my creativity would remain limited to my home. I loved making designs, decorating walls during festivals, and experimenting with patterns, but I did not know how to take it further. Thanks to your support, I now have a place to learn Wall Art properly, refine my skills, and build my confidence.
For the first time, I feel that my creativity has value. I can dream of earning an income, helping my parents, and supporting my siblings’ education. Most importantly, I now believe I can stand on my own feet.
Your support has not only given me skills, but also hope, respect, and purpose. I will carry this gift with me throughout my life and will always be grateful for this opportunity.
With deep appreciation,
Ms. Geeta
